The conference entitled \u201cThe First Demand Guarantee between Contractual Autonomy, Protection of the Guarantor and International Practice\u201d<\/em><\/strong> was held on 13 May in Milan, in the prestigious setting of the Sala delle Colonne at Banco BPM.<\/p>\n\n

The event was organized by the Firm in synergy with the Lombardy-Liguria Section of AIGI (Italian Association of Corporate Counsel)<\/a> and in collaboration with Banco BPM<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n

The meeting provided a broad multidisciplinary discussion, confirming the actual and strategic relevance and the practical complexities of this essential legal instrument.<\/p>\n\n

The regulatory and doctrinal framework of the subject was outlined by the Firm\u2019s professionals, namely attorneys Cristina Biglia<\/a>, Anna Papacchini <\/a>and Marco Tessera Chiesa<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n

They examined key issues such as overcoming the principle of accessory nature in comparison with the traditional suretyship, protections and urgent remedies against fraudulent calls, and the international dimension of autonomous guarantees, with particular reference to ICC rules and the impact of international sanctions regimes on the enforceability of the guarantee itself.<\/p>\n\n

The second part of the event focused on the operational dimension through a roundtable chaired by Mr. Adriano Peloso<\/strong> (Head of the Lombardy-Liguria Section of AIGI and General Counsel of Lenovo Italia S.r.l.).<\/p>\n\n

The discussion, featuring contributions from in-house counsels Chiara Spagnuolo<\/strong> (Bracco), Laura Furlanetto<\/strong> (Maire S.p.A.), and Domenico Masucci<\/strong> (Autostrada Pedemontana S.p.A.), provided insight into the practical issues handled on a daily basis by corporate legal departments.<\/p>\n\n

Finally, the remarks by Dr. Diana Vaccaro<\/strong> (Head of the Artistic Heritage Department of Banco BPM) offered an interesting focus on guarantees in the context of managing art collections and loaning artworks.<\/p>\n\n
