“Breath” by Gianluca Patti at Cittadella degli Archivi in Milan | Opening and e Press Preview
On Monday 14th October, at 11.00 a.m., “Breath“, site-specific artwork by Gianluca Patti (Monza, 1977), will be presented at Cittadella degli Archivi di Milano, together with critical-curatorial essay by Giorgia Ligasacchi and Ester Candido, respectively Art Consultant and Junior Art Consultant of Pavesio e Associati with Negri-Clementi.
The City of Milan commissioned the project as part of the initiative “Muri d’Artista” which aims to redevelop the area through public art investments. This is the first project in which Patti works on a wall, giving life to a street artwork entirely made with environmentally sustainable paints REair.
“Breath speaks of childhood but also of new generations, of what has been and could become, it is the park of Monza but also a tribute to all the parks in Milan, it is an invitation to stop and become aware of the state of art and at the same time to try to look beyond the architectural limit of the wall, to cross it and go deep, not to be afraid to dream of a different future.”
Inspired by a 1929 article kept at the Citadella, the work transforms the wall into a vibrant urban garden, inviting people to reflect on the importance of green spaces in cities, promoting the health and well-being of the community while contributing – in the meantime – to de-pollute the area.
During the press conference, in addition to the artist and curators, there will be as speakers: Gaia Romani, Councillor for Decentralization, Neighborhoods and Participation, Civil Services and General, and Francesco Martelli – Head of Documentation and Digital Conservator of the Municipality of Milan.
