The strategy for the Savings and Investments Union and supplementary pension schemes: challenges, regulatory dialogue and developments in financial markets

Starting from the recent proposals to revise European pension regulation – put forward by the European Commission and aimed at encouraging recourse to supplementary pension provision – this article analyses the prospects for the evolution of retirement savings that are increasingly relevant also for financial markets law.

In this context, attention is directed to the intervention strategies adopted by the European Commission and, in particular, to the measures having a direct impact on the capacity of pension funds (and, more generally, of private pension provision) to become concrete support for the Savings and Investments Union project.
